Three facts worth knowing
  • IT specialists without a recognised degree can still qualify for a Blue Card with 3+ years' experience in the last 7.
  • A Blue Card holder's spouse needs no German for the family-reunification visa, and can work in Germany.
  • The 2026 Blue Card salary threshold for IT roles is €45,934 gross a year.

You've probably heard this story before

It starts with a WhatsApp message. A “consultant” has a job in Germany for you. There's just a small processing fee first.

Or it starts with a friend who took the Opportunity Card, flew to Germany with six months of savings, and applied to 150 companies.

Meanwhile you have real experience. A 90-day notice period. Parents who think every Germany job is a scam. And if you're honest, you half-agree with them.

You're right to be careful. Most of this industry runs backwards: visa first, hope later. Pay first, see later.

We run it the right way round. A German company with a real role. Interviews with real people. An offer in writing. Then the visa.

Is this you?

Built for mid-career software & IT professionals, not freshers.

Velai works in four software and IT disciplines, with people who carry real project responsibility and want to work on-site or hybrid in Germany.

Four disciplines

SAP & ERP, embedded and automotive software, software engineering (backend and full-stack), and cloud, DevOps and data. Deliberately narrow — we know these markets well.

3 or more years

Mid-career professionals. Your experience is the point — employers come to Velai for people who can own a workstream from day one.

On-site or hybrid roles in Germany

Every role is a permanent contract at a German employer, with relocation. Velai doesn't do fully remote placements — the move is part of the plan.

Ready to relocate

You don't need visa experience or German fluency to start. You need a recognised degree — or the §18g Abs. 2 route with 3+ years of IT experience — solid English, and the decision to move.

Your journey

Eight steps. You always know which one you're on.

From your profile to onboarding — the whole path is mapped, tracked and owned by your account manager. Your account manager stays your contact through arrival and onboarding.

What it takes

Honest expectations, before you apply.

Three things decide whether we can match you. We'd rather tell you now than take your time.

A technical degree — or the §18g Abs. 2 route

A university degree recognised in Germany: listed in Anabin as H+, or evaluated by ZAB. IT specialists with at least three years of experience from the last seven can also qualify without a degree under §18g Abs. 2. Not sure? Run the recognition checker — it takes two minutes.

Experience that shows

Three or more years on real projects. Employers hire for what you have shipped, led or signed off — your profile shows exactly that.

English first. German helps.

Many roles start English-first; German helps for customer-facing and team contexts, and Relocation support such as German courses, flights or temporary housing is agreed per employer and written into your offer.. When a role needs German from day one, that is stated clearly on the job post.

What it costs

No fees to join, to be reviewed or to interview.

We never charge registration, processing or “priority” fees. Any cost is shown to you in writing, under a contract and with a receipt, before you sign anything. If someone asks you for money in Velai's name, it isn't us.
